OUT OF MANY, ONE-Empowering Immigrant Families

Out of Many, One (OM1) Foundation was created to stand in the gap for families facing legal, economic, and humanitarian crises — especially immigrant and low-income communities who often struggle to access trustworthy support and resources.

Founded by community advocate and paralegal Dilsia V. Mejía, OM1 is built on the belief that true support goes beyond paperwork. Families need guidance, education, emotional support, and someone who will walk with them through moments of fear, uncertainty, and transition. OM1 exists to be that support system.

Our mission is to empower families by providing legal navigation, community resources, advocacy, and humanitarian assistance, helping them move from crisis to stability and from survival to opportunity. Through partnerships with legal professionals, community organizations, and local leaders, OM1 connects families to critical services while ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect every step of the way.

OM1 serves families across Kenner, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, LaPlace, and surrounding parishes, responding to urgent needs such as immigration-related emergencies, family separations, housing instability, lack of transportation, and access to reliable information. Whether it is helping a parent understand their legal options, supporting children affected by detention, or guiding families toward long-term solutions, OM1 is committed to showing up when it matters most.

Our name, Out of Many, One, reflects the strength found in unity. We believe that when communities come together — across cultures, backgrounds, and circumstances — real change becomes possible. OM1 is not just a nonprofit; it is a movement rooted in compassion, justice, and collective responsibility.

Together, we work to ensure that no family has to face hardship alone.
