Born in Puerto Cortés, Honduras, and raised in Kenner, Louisiana, Dilsia V. Mejía is a passionate community advocate whose life’s work is rooted in service, resilience, and justice. As a wife, mother of two daughters, and stepmother to two children, her commitment to protecting and uplifting families is not just professional — it is deeply personal.

An only child with an unwavering drive to create change, Dilsia earned her double major in Homeland Security and General Legal Studies from Tulane University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Criminology at Loyola University. Her academic and professional journey reflects her dedication to understanding the systems that impact marginalized communities and working to transform them through education, advocacy, and action.

Dilsia is the Founder and Executive Director of Out of Many, One (OM1) Foundation and the Owner of DVM Immigration Services, organizations she created to close the gap between legal systems and real-life community needs. As an experienced paralegal in immigration, real estate, family, and criminal law, she brings a holistic approach to legal support — recognizing that families often face multiple legal and social challenges at once.

In 2021, Dilsia relocated to LaPlace, Louisiana, expanding her reach to serve families throughout Kenner, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and surrounding parishes. Her work extends beyond paperwork; she is known for showing up during emergencies, guiding families through crises, and advocating fiercely for those who feel unseen or unheard.

Dilsia believes that access to justice should never depend on income, status, or fear. Through OM1 Foundation and DVM Immigration Services, she continues to build pathways to stability, dignity, and opportunity — proving that when compassion meets action, communities can rise together.
